A U.S. Navy sailor will soon arrive at his final resting place in Escondido following an hours-long procession from Central California.
23-year-old Noah Tobin, who was killed during a parachute training mission on July 1st in Porterville, CA, is set to arrive at an Escondido mortuary early this afternoon. “His loss has left an unimaginable hole in our hearts,” his mother wrote in a social media post shortly after his passing. “Our home has been full these past days, with Navy leadership from both San Diego and Virginia, chaplains, and others walking alongside us as we begin to process this grief.”
The public is encouraged to line the route of a 250-mile procession honoring Tobin, which will travel down Interstate 15 before its third and final stop at the Alhiser-Comer Mortuary on the corner of South Broadway & West Third Avenue in Escondido. Organizers originally expected the motorcade to arrive at the location sometime after 1:30 p.m., however the arrival is now expected between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.
“Please share this information with people you know who live in this area of our state who might be available to honor this young man, his service to our country, and his family,” an organizer said. “He will be given a hometown hero’s welcome.” Additional information can be found on a Facebook event page created for the procession, which is linked here: https://www.facebook.com/events/491922770678008/
